Arson Update: Police Make Arrest In Superior Summer Crime Streak
A juvenile faces multiple counts of arson, burglary, and criminal attempt.

BOULDER, CO -- The Boulder County Sheriff's Office has announced an arrest in a string of arsons that occurred in Superior last summer. The suspect, a 15-year-old boy, turned himself in at the Juvenile Assessment Center at the Boulder County Justice Center on Thursday, Jan. 17, according to a news release from the sheriff's office. He faces four felony arson charges, along with a one felony charge of burglary, four charges of felony criminal attempt, and two misdemeanor charges.
The charges are connected to five incidents that occurred in August and September of 2018, according to the sheriff's office report.
The boy is accused of setting three fires on Aug. 13 in the North Torreys Peak and Castle Peak subdivisions in Superior. One occurred in the 3000 block of Castle Peak Avenue, while the second and third were located in the 3000 block of Huron Peak Place.

The next incident occurred on Sept. 20, in which the boy is accused of pouring accelerant on the staircase of a home in the 3100 block of Castle Peak Avenue and lighting it, as well as adding a pillow to fuel the fire, according to the sheriff's office.
Finally, on Sept. 24, the suspect was caught on a doorbell video attempting to break into a home in the 2900 block of Shale Court.

The boy's name will not be released, as he is a juvenile.
Detectives with Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, the Boulder County Multi-Agency Fire Investigation Team, and an arson investigator with Longmont Public Safety assisted with the investigation.
