Attempted Murder Charge For Erie Barricade Suspect

Erie Police release name a suspect in the weekend's early morning incident.

ERIE, CO -- The suspect in a weekend stand-off with Erie Police has been identified and charged, according to reporting from the Daily Camera. Jerome Bornn, 46, now faces charges of attempted first-degree murder after deliberation, first-degree assault, violation of a protection order, and two counts of second-degree assault, after what was reportedly a domestic violence incident.

At 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29, Erie police officers responded to a report of a disturbance inside a residence near the 1500 block of Bain, according to a press release from the police department. Upon their arrival a victim was transported from the scene with injuries sustained in an alleged assault.

The Boulder County and Boulder Police SWAT were called to assist in locating a barricaded suspect, and shortly before 7:30 a.m. SWAT cleared the scene. The suspect was transported from the scene with alleged self-inflicted injuries.

The Erie Police issued an alert to the community shortly after 6 a.m. on Dec. 29, noting that an increased police presence in the 1500 block of Bain Street was in response to a barricaded suspect, but that there was no danger to the community.
