Attempted Murder Suspect Attempts Suicide In Jail: Police
The 40-year-old inmate is now in critical condition; cellmate was unaware of his intentions.

BOULDER, CO -- A Boulder man who had been arrested for attempted murder on Sunday, Dec. 2 appears to have attempted suicide at the jail, according to a press release by the Boulder County Sheriff's Office. Joshua Male, 40, was found in his cell hanging from a noose by a deputy after another inmate reported hearing cries for help. Male's cellmate appeared to be attempting to hold Male's body up in order to allow him to breathe.
Male was unconscious, and the deputy called for additional help. Deputies and medical staff were able to free Male from the fashioned noose, and began administering life-saving resuscitative measures, including CPR.
Male was initially transported to a Boulder hospital for medical care, but was later transferred to a Denver-metro area hospital for additional treatment. He did not regain consciousness during transport and remains in critical condition.

Male had been in-custody at the jail since December 2, 2018, and was being held on charges of attempted first-degree murder, second-degree assault, third-degree assault, and domestic violence.
The preliminary investigation into the circumstances surrounding Male's self-inflicted injuries suggest no foul play, and that his cellmate, who had been asleep at the time, was unaware of Male's intentions.
