Boulder Man Exhorts, Threatens Undocumented Workers: Police

After writing bad checks to workers, the suspect allegedly threatened to report them to immigration authorities.

BOULDER, CO -- A Boulder man has been arrested on multiple counts after allegedly gave undocumented workers bad checks for various projects on a South Boulder home, and then threatened to report them to immigration when they asked for proper payment, according to a report from the Daily Camera. Chad Alan Faubus, 42, now faces three counts of extortion, seven counts of fraud by check, contractor fraud and theft.

According to the Camera, three separate companies reported Faubus wrote them checks ranging in amounts from $500 to $4,000 for their work — but the checks always bounced due to insufficient funds.

Multiple parties from several companies allege that when they asked Faubus for payment, he threatened to report them to Immigrations and Customs Enforcement because they were undocumented immigrants.
