BOULDER, CO — The Boulder Police Department announced Wednesday that it will consult with the Colorado Cold Case Review Team in 2023 as part of an ongoing investigation into the December 1996 death of JonBenet Ramsey.

“The amount of DNA evidence available for analysis is extremely small and complex,” the department explained. “The sample could, in whole or in part, be consumed by DNA testing.”

The Boulder Police Department added that it will continue collaborating with private DNA labs in an effort to find technology that can reliably test forensic samples recovered from the crime scene nearly 26 years ago.
