Boulder Police Show Little Interest In Alleged Ramsey Confession
Police say there are no updates to the JonBenet Ramsey case, despite the reported confession of a convicted pedophile.

BOULDER, CO -- A British newspaper, The Daily Mail, reported Thursday that it could "exclusively reveal" the details of an alleged confession in the 1996 murder of JonBenet Ramsey. The Daily Mail reported that it had obtained letters written by convicted pedophile Gary Oliva admitting to the crime. Boulder police, however, appeared unimpressed by the revelation.
"The Boulder Police Department is aware of Gary Oliva and has investigated his potential involvement in this case, including several previous confessions," the Boulder Police Department wrote in a Thursday evening statement. "The department routinely receives information on this investigation. Information provided to the police department is reviewed along with the many tips and theories we receive. There are no new updates in this investigation and the department will not comment further."

JonBenet Ramsey, 6, was found murdered in her family's home on Dec. 26, 1996. The case remains open.
According to the Daily Camera, Oliva initially drew investigators' interest after his arrest in December 2000 arrest on the University of Colorado campus. He was found to be carrying a photo of JonBenet, a poem he had written called "Ode to JonBenet," and was also in possession of a stun gun.
