Car Theft: Police Arrest Two, One Suspect At Large

A woman was found hiding underneath clothing in the stolen vehicle.

BOULDER, CO -- Police have two suspects in custody and are searching for a third in an investigation into a stolen car located in North Boulder on Monday, Dec. 17. At approximately 10:47 A.M. on Monday, the Boulder County Communications Center received a phone call from On-Star about a stolen vehicle that had been located in the area of North Broadway and Laramie Boulevard, according to a press release from the Boulder County Sheriff's Department.

When deputies responded to the area, they found the vehicle occupied by 26-year-old Justin Hand. When they made contact with Hand, he began to run, resisted arrest, and physically struggled with the deputies. The deputies used a department-issued Taser, but it had little effect. Hand was able to escape, but he was then tackled and taken into custody by the deputies with help from citizen bystanders.

A second, unidentified male suspect ran from the scene. He was described as wearing a dark colored jacket over a royal blue colored hoodie type jacket. A perimeter was put in place, and officers from the Boulder Police Department and deputies from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office searched the area, but were unable to locate him.
