Contested Crestone Drilling Plan Gets Hearing Scheduled For April

The COGCC has scheduled a hearing for the proposed plan that would allow drilling on Boulder County Open Space north of Erie.

BOULDER, CO -- The Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission has announced that it will hold a hearing on the proposed Crestone Comprehensive Drilling Plan, as well as the associated drilling and spacing units from April 29 to May 1, according to a news release from Boulder County.

The hearing had been initially scheduled for October, but it was put on hold after Boulder County filed a lawsuit against Crestone alleging that many of the company's claims had either expired or would bring harm to county-owned conservation easements and Open Space properties.

In November, Crestone submitted its plans to the COGCC in spite of the pending litigation. In February, a Boulder district judge dismissed 20 of the claims in the county's lawsuit, stating that they were premature because Crestone's proposals were not finalized and had not gone through the state regulatory process.
