Dog And Bird Rescued From Longmont House Fire
The home's owners were not home at the time, and no injuries were reported.
LONGMONT, CO -- Longmont fire, police, and AMR representatives responded to a structure fire in the 1200 block of Sherri Mar Court on Monday afternoon shortly after 4:30 p.m., according to information from the Longmont emergency services Facebook page. No human residents were home at the time, but firefighters did rescue a dog and a bird.
On arrival, crews found smoke and flames coming from the attic of the home and quickly pulled a hose line to attack the fire. Another crew cut a hole in the home's roof in order to allow heat to escape and to try to keep the fire from spreading further. The fire was brought under control in about 15 minutes, but crews were on scene for over an hour to put out hot spots.
The residence is not currently habitable, but no injuries were reported. The Longmont Fire Department issued a "thank-you" to the Longmont Police Department and AMR for assisting on the scene and to Mountain View Fire Rescue for coming into the city to cover other calls.
