Authorities said that the girl's friends told them they have received messages that they believe could be from her saying she is safe with a “family” in Arizona and does not want to return home. However, police have been unable to confirm if these claims are true or if the messages are actually from the teen.
According to the department, no one in the missing girl's family has spoken with her since September 30.
