Get The Details: Longmont Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration

The popular, annual community celebration is set to return for 2019.

LONGMONT, CO -- Silver Creek High School will once again host Longmont's Martin Luther King, Jr. community celebration on Monday, Jan. 21. The event will begin at 10 a.m. and run until 12 p.m, with doors opening at 9:30 a.m. The theme of this year's celebration is “All Cultures One Voice”, and the event will include music, videos, dancing, and family-friendly activities.

The 2019 edition will feature speaker Dr. Almella Starks-Umoja, whose father, the late Dr. Henry Logan Starks, was a key figure of Dr. King’s planning committee. The entire community is invited to come and relive moments in the history of the Civil Rights Movement.

The event is sponsored as a collaboration between Silver Creek High School, Lexmark, the Longmont Multicultural Action Committee, and St. Vrain Valley Schools.
