'Marijuana Hospitality Establishments': Longmont Rep's State Bill
If the legislation passes, a new kind of tasting party could be headed to a spa near you.
LONGMONT, CO -- A bill introduced in the statehouse Friday by Longmont Rep. Jonathan Singer seeks to create a license for "marijuana hospitality establishments," where people could legally gather and consume products on site, reports the Longmont Times-Call. According to information given to the Times-Call by Cindy Sovine, founder of Social Avengers, a coalition fighting for legal social cannabis consumption, there would be two types of establishments under the new legislation.
One, a "legal cannabis hospitality establishment," would allow consumption of marijuana products, but no selling or purchase of such items would be permitted on premises. In theory, the Times-Call reports, hotels, spas, coffee shops, and other similar locations could apply for such a permit.
The other category,"retail cannabis hospitality and sales establishments," would cover locations where patrons could also purchase small amounts of cannabis products from licensed vendors.
