BOULDER, CO -- Tarana Burke, founder of the ‘me too.’ Movement, will be coming to Boulder to speak at Macky Auditorium on Monday, April 15. Burke will talk about the story behind the genesis of the ‘me too.’, in a presentation aimed at offering strength and healing to those who have experienced sexual trauma or harassment. On stage, Burke aims to empower others and let survivors across all races, genders, and classes know that they are not alone.
“Tarana Burke has generated a global platform for all victims of sexual assault, especially women of color, to voice their stories in a safe space,” said Mavjuda Rassel, chair of CU's Cultural Events Board in a press release. “Burke’s passion and activism for justice has generated a new movement where women can feel heard, understood, supported and no longer silenced.”
Burke will be hosted by CU's student-led Cultural Events Board. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and the event will begin at 7 p.m.
