Meet Your New County Commissioner: Matt Jones

Jones is not only a longtime Colorado legislator – he is also a former pro mogul skier.

BOULDER, CO -- Matt Jones, of Louisville, was sworn in Tuesday as the newest member of the Boulder County Board of County Commissioners. He joins fellow commissioners Elise Jones (no relation) and Deb Gardner, while replacing Cindy Domenico who had served on the board since 2007 and was term-limited. Matt Jones was elected in November to a term that will run through January of 2023.

“I am honored and excited to have the opportunity to serve as county commissioner,” Matt Jones said in a statement. “I look forward to serving residents so that we can keep Boulder County such a special place.”

He served for six years as the Colorado State Senator for District 17, an area that includes Longmont, Lafayette, Louisville, and Erie. Prior to his senate run, he served three consecutive terms in the Colorado House, from 1986 to 1992, and even returned for a fourth term from 2010 to 2012. He also spent 18 years of helping to plan and lead the City of Boulder’s Open Space & Mountain Parks Department.
