Monday Emergency Siren Testing To Begin April 1 In Boulder
If you hear a siren on the first Monday morning of the month this summer, here's what's going on.
BOULDER, CO -- With peak flood season upon us, Boulder will begin its monthly emergency siren testing on April 1. The sirens will be tested on the first Monday of every month April–August at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. by the City of Boulder in partnership with Boulder County and the Boulder Office of Emergency Management. If there is severe weather on the day of a scheduled testing, that testing will be cancelled.
The Monday test events are used to make sure that all sirens and procedures are working properly during the high-risk season. There are 29 siren locations throughout the county, in Boulder, Erie, Jamestown, Lafayette, Louisville, Lyons, Marshall, Eldorado Springs, Superior and on the CU-Boulder campus.
The Boulder Police Department issued a reminder to residents on its app to sign up for emergency alerts at www.boco911alert.com, review emergency preparedness plans with family, friends and co-workers, and refresh the contents of any emergency supply kits.
