School Strike For Climate Action Day In Boulder This Friday
Boulder students to take part in a global strike organized by the international youth protest movement calling for climate change action.
BOULDER, CO -- School Strike For Climate, a movement started by Swedish 16-year-old Greta Thunberg, is preparing for its largest day of action yet this Friday, March 15. Thunberg began as a lone protestor with a homemade sign outside of the Swedish parliament last summer, but her call to action has been picked up by students across the globe. This Friday's protest is planned to be the broadest yet, including an event hosted by Boulder Earth Guardians at the downtown bandshell.
As of Monday, March 11, Thunberg reported that 1057 events had been scheduled in 89 countries.
This morning: 89 countries and 1057 places!
Can we make it a hundred countries by Friday? https://t.co/EFTn7eCfm6

Thunberg's Fridays for Future movement has inspired and galvanized students across the globe to skip school the final day of the week and protest in front of the nearest town hall to call for action on climate change.

"The time is now," reads a post on the Boulder event's Facebook page. "We do not have time to sit idly by and wait for someone else to do their job. We must hold politicians, representatives, and corporate polluters accountable. We stand with our peers because our future is worth it! Whether you are a student, teacher, mentor, parent, or ally, join us."
