Sheriff's Office Seeks Victim Impact Facilitators
Recruitment will continue through January with training in February.

BOULDER, CO -- The Boulder County Sheriff's Office is currently recruiting local volunteer victim impact facilitators. Volunteers will work with the jail’s Victim Impact classes to help inmates learn to recognize the impact of their behavior on others. The sheriff's office is seeking residents who who want to make a difference and believe that people can change.
Applications will be accepted through Jan. 30, 2019, and training will be held in February. New facilitators will be initially paired with an experienced team member.
Prospective facilitators should be able to manage discussion and present opposing viewpoints. Facilitators must also be open and inviting yet able to establish firm boundaries and respectfully confront denials, minimization, justification and able to read class dynamics.

Victim Impact classes run for eight weeks, meeting once-a-week for two hours on Thursdays from 3–5 p.m. Two hours of preparation time, which includes reviewing inmate homework is also required. All volunteers are asked to commit to joining the team for at least one year, attend bi-monthly meetings to debrief, review new policies, and participate in in-service training.
