On the plains and lower foothills, the storm is expected to start with rain late Wednesday morning. The precipitation will transition to snow with winds as high as 50 miles per hour by afternoon. Forecasters are currently tracking the storm to see where in the state the areas of highest snow impact are likely to hit. Blizzard conditions are possible east of I-25.
The National Weather Service is encouraging people to modify their travel plans if possible and to stay off the roads Wednesday evening.
