St. Vrain Schools Close For A Second Day; BVSD Open
Boulder Valley School District officials say that if families do not feel safe traveling, the students will be given an excused absence.
BOULDER, CO -- St. Vrain Valley School District has announced that schools will be closed for the second day in a row due to power outages suffered as a result of yesterday's "bomb cyclone" winter storm. The district posted a notice on its website and sent text messages alerting parents to the decision on Wednesday night.
"St. Vrain Valley administration and operations crews have finished driving roads across the district and while roads for the most part are passable, there are places with icy road conditions," reported the website notice. "Additionally, heavy winds have caused intermittent power issues that are of a significant concern. Therefore to err on the side of caution and safety, we will be closing schools for Thursday, March 14."
All Boulder Valley Schools will be open and operating on a normal schedule today, however, in a tweet posted early this morning by the district account, parents were informed that if they do not feel safe driving in the winter conditions, their students will be given an excused absence.

BVSD: As always, we respect the decisions of our parents. If you do not feel comfortable sending your student to school on a day like today, you may keep them home and we will consider it an excused absence.
