BOULDER, CO -- The county's Agricultural Heritage Center opened for the season this week, once again ready to offer visitors an intimate look in to the lifestyle of a Boulderite in the early 1900s. The site features interactive exhibits, a farmhouse constructed in 1909 that is furnished with items from the 1910s, and a variety of live animals including chickens, pigs, and draft horses.
The Lohr/MacIntosh farmsite, located near Longmont off the Ute Highway, also includes two barns, an outhouse, a milk house and a blacksmith shop that opens for special events. Visitors can explore the area with help from an Open Space Nature Detectives Mystery Guide.
The center currently has two special events scheduled for the summer. Barnyard Critter Day is scheduled for June 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Trades and Crafts of the Olden Days will take place on September 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Through October, the center will be open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Get more information here.
