Wildfire Near Lyons Prompts Evacuations, Road Closures
Hundreds of personnel were working at the scene of the blaze by early Monday evening.
BOULDER COUNTY, CO -- A fire that ignited near Lyons on Monday afternoon prompted road closures and mandatory evacuation notices, according to information from the Boulder County Sheriff's Department. As of about 9 p.m., there were roughly 100 emergency personnel, plus additional air support, on the scene of what the sheriff's department is referring to as the Little House Fire. The sheriff's department reported that it had stabilized in size at 14.7 acres and 75% containment.
The blaze began near the 23,000 block of South St. Vrain Drive, about 10 miles southwest of Lyons. By 5 p.m., South St. Vrain Drive was closed between mile markers 23 and 24.5, and mandatory evacuation notices were in effect for the Highway 7 Conifer Hill area, according to a tweet from the sheriff's department. The fire's size at that time was estimated to be about 10 acres.

According to the sheriff's department, firefighters are working in steep, rocky terrain to fight the fire. Personnel on scene include fire, law enforcement, and animal control officers, among others.

Evacuees can get assistance at the Highlands Presbyterian Camp, located at 1306 Business Hwy 7. The evacuation order and the road closure are expected to remain in effect overnight.
