BOULDER, CO -- It took a 20-person rescue crew three hours to evacuate a local woman after she fell climbing near the First Flatiron and suffered a lower leg injury, according to a news release from the Boulder County Sheriff's Department. The incident was reported at about 9:30 a.m. on Friday morning.

Search and rescue personnel were able to make contact with a member of the woman's climbing group by telephone, and that witness was then able to guide them to her so they could begin the technical rescue and evacuation.

The fallen climber is a female in her early twenties from the Boulder area. She was transported to a local hospital by a member of her climbing group. The Boulder County Sheriff's Office, the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, and the City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks all assisted with the operation.
