BOULDER, CO — Colorado Parks and Wildlife relocated a pair of young mountain lions on Saturday that have been making their home in the Wonderland Hills neighborhood for the last few weeks. According to the Daily Camera, the two lions, juvenile siblings weighing about 50 pounds each, were relocated together to a remote location up the North St. Vrain Creek.

One of the cats attracted quite a bit of attention after it spent an entire day perched in a North Boulder tree during a snowstorm April 10. At the time, CPW officials noted that if the youngsters continued to hunt in the area, they would need to be relocated.

“Officers felt that relocation was the best option for these siblings, as they didn’t want them being comfortable right there in town,” CPW spokesman Jason Clay told the Camera.

The pair was safely tranquilized when they were found sleeping in a backyard on Mountain Laurel Parkway, according to the Camera. They had killed several raccoons in the area, leading wildlife officials to believe that they would be OK on their own.
