Denver to issue first chunk of Vibrant Denver Bond dollars (denvergazette.com) — Denver is preparing to issue $455 million of its new Vibrant Denver bond package, jump-starting 58 voter-approved projects to improve parks, transportation, facilities, housing, and health services across the city. The plan, backed by Mayor Mike Johnston, is expected to create thousands of local jobs and boost neighborhood infrastructure, with key council votes and bond pricing slated for February and early March.
   

2. Rule change for businesses hosting Broncos watch parties (kdvr.com) — Denver is temporarily relaxing its permit timeline so bars and restaurants can quickly expand outdoor spaces for Broncos playoff watch parties, including at Tom’s Watch Bar near McGregor Square. Businesses still need inspections, but the city aims to fast-track approvals, giving fans more room to gather while helping local venues capitalize on the team’s postseason run.
   

3. Denver's 2025 eviction filings still higher than pre-pandemic levels (9news.com) — Denver saw nearly 16,000 eviction filings in 2025, a crisis-level total that matches 2024’s record highs and sits 72% above pre-pandemic levels. City data show neighborhoods like Green Valley Ranch, Sun Valley, Montbello, and Hampden are hit hardest, while advocates stress rental assistance is vital but largely reactive, not preventative.
   

4. Urban Alchemy awarded $30 million contract in Denver (santafenewmexican.com) — Denver has approved a three-year, $30 million, performance-based contract for nonprofit Urban Alchemy to operate The Aspen shelter, significantly shaping local homeless services. City Council members backed the deal only reluctantly, amid questions about Urban Alchemy’s track record elsewhere and concerns over a possible conflict of interest involving a senior housing official’s prior employment with the group.
