The increase, a few dollars per year for typical single-family users, will help fund $1.7 billion in system upgrades, main replacements, lead reduction work, and major projects like the Northwater plant and Gross Reservoir expansion.

Record-breaking opening weekend at 2026 National Western Stock Show (9news.com) β Denverβs National Western Stock Show is drawing record crowds, with nearly 119,000 people packing the National Western Complex for opening weekend and exploring new headquarters and livestock facilities. Running through later this month, the long-standing winter tradition offers daily rodeos, livestock shows, and family-friendly activities that bring visitors and economic energy into the city.

Student-less school bus crashes in downtown Denver (kdvr.com) β A school bus with no students on board crashed into a crosswalk pole Monday night at North Speer Boulevard and West 8th Avenue in downtown Denver. No injuries have been reported, but Xcel crews are working on an electrical connection under the bus, and drivers may see lane closures once towing begins.

One year since stabbings on Denver's 16th Street, number of homicides are down (cbsnews.com) β One year after random stabbings on Denverβs 16th Street killed two people, city officials say homicides have dropped by more than 50% and downtown patrols have been permanently increased. Families of victims are still grieving while calling for stronger mental health resources and tougher responses to violent offenders as Denver leaders invest in safety plans and partnerships downtown.

Denver and state legislature consider laws against masked law enforcement officers (9news.com) β Denver city leaders are weighing a proposal to ban masks for all law enforcement operating in the city, aiming to increase transparency and reduce intimidation during operations. At the same time, a state lawmaker plans related legislation clarifying when local officers working with federal agencies can be masked. These decisions could soon change how officers appear in Denver neighborhoods.
