2nd Person Dies After Lakewood Wreck
Two Kansas residents are dead after a crash that closed streets for hours on Sunday as Colfax Marathon was taking place.
LAKEWOOD, CO – Lakewood police said Tuesday that a second victim has died after an early-morning car accident Sunday, May 19 at the intersection of South Kipling Street and West Alameda Avenue. The wreck closed the streets and tied up traffic for most of the morning Sunday, just as the Colfax Marathon was closing other streets.
A statement from Lakewood police said around 2 a.m. a car traveling eastbound on West Alameda ran the red light at South Kipling and t-boned another car that had entered the intersection on the green light. One passenger in the southbound car was killed and another died later at the hospital, Lakewood police said. The driver and the occupants of the vehicle that ran the red light were all also taken to area hospitals.
The victims, both Kansas residents, were identified by police as 30-year-old Jesse Edmonds and Jacob Bowen, 26.
