LAKEWOOD, CO — This photo of the week is certainly a case of paying attention to the surroundings for *just* the right time to capture that gorgeous snap. Sharon DeVita of Lakewood shot this sunset skyscape at Belmar earlier this month, and the careful attention to detail and the composition of the surroundings is exquisite.

Not all sunset photos are created equal. That may sound harsh, but sometimes the truth is hard to swallow. DeVita knows how to capture a sunset photo. To create a complex, layered photo, the angle of the snap captures the harsh line of the flagpole in the middle ground with the national and state flags breaking up the continuous sky. This elevates the snap to the next level from just a colorful skyscape.

However, that sky really is the reason everyone is gathered here today. Timing and patience are absolutely key for capturing a wonderful spectrum of beautiful colors painted across the sky.
