Colfax Marathon To Close Down Lakewood Streets
More than 19,000 athletes are expected to run the race along Colfax between Denver and Lakewood.
LAKEWOOD, CO – Colfax Avenue in Denver and Lakewood will be closed off Sunday, May 19, for the Colorado Colfax Marathon. More than 19,000 athletes are expected to participate, so plan your traffic and travel carefully.
The race (really seven races of various lengths and difficulty) starts and finishes at Denver's City Park. The race begins in the wee hours of the morning around 6 a.m. The portion of the race that moves through Lakewood will travel along West Colfax, turning north on Pierce Street to travel through the Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design campus before returning to Pierce Street. The runners will then head north to West 20th Avenue and return to West Colfax at Glen Moor Drive, and then head east. Closures are expected to affect Lakewood until 10:30 a.m.
