Lakewood's LandMark Exhibition: Upcoming Events
The "LandMark" exhibition features the work of 10 Colorado artists, some of whom live or work in Lakewood.
LAKEWOOD, CO — Ten public art installations in Lakewood parks aim to draw attention to the environment and human connections, and several upcoming events aim to strengthen those connections further, organizers said.
The free outdoor exhibition "LandMark," which runs until Oct. 18, connects local artists and park visitors at a time when many are still feeling isolated.
Community members are invited to listen to an audio tour of the exhibition, register for the Artists' Talk via Zoom on Thursday, June 3, and attend a Rock Painting Community Event Saturday, June 5. In the online audio tour, each artist narrates a brief description about their artwork and provides insight into their inspiration and creative process.

Curators and artists Kalliopi Monoyios and Anna Kaye said they found inspiration for the exhibition during the early months of the pandemic when street noise grew quieter and the air cleared. They wondered how the 'pause' — which was seen around the world — affected people's relationships with their environment, and that question is reflected in the artwork.
“In the past year, due to indoor capacity limitations, people have spent more time in Lakewood parks than ever before,” said Laine Godsey, Lakewood arts programming curator, in a statement. “We are excited to bring more art outdoors for our community to safely access and enjoy.”
