LAKEWOOD, CO. – A new space for kids to roam and play is being planned at Colorado Mills mall, a statement from the mall's parent-group Simon said.

The space-themed play area will give weary mothers and caregivers a place for small children to frolic without buying anything. It is planned in the mall's "Neighborhood 4" near the Build-A-Bear franchise, the mall said.

The indoor playground called "Mars Outpost” was designed in collaboration with the Denver Museum of Nature & Science.

“We are inspired by the Museum’s mission to ignite the community’s passion for nature and science, and are over the moon about opening an interactive play area for families and friends to have fun and learn while spending time at the center,” said Brenda Cleary, director of marketing and business development at Colorado Mills in a press release.

The playground is described as having "planets orbiting overhead." Children can "climb through a rocket-turned-habitat that “landed” on the Red Planet, use a telescope to view the planets above, plan what to pack for life on Mars [and] explore interactive screens that encourage wonder about our universe and the scientific process," the company said.
