Here are the top stories today in Lakewood:

  1. For the next three days, four Regional Transportation District (RTD) stations will be closed. The four which will not be open are the Alameda, I-25/Broadway, Evans and Louisiana/Pearl stations. They are closed for maintenance work and will reopen Friday. Visit Denverite to learn more.
  2. Colorado's drug overdose rate is higher than any developed country. The last time worldwide data was collected was 2019. For reference, Colorado's most recent overdose data is three times higher than Canada's 2019 rate. Colorado's overdose rates are average in the United States. Read more through Fox 31.
  3. Early Sunday morning, a Frontier flight attendant was struck by a passenger in Denver's airport. After being asked to deplane a flight to Tampa, the passenger used an intercom phone to hit the employee. Learn more about the incident via The Denver Post.
  4. HEPA filters are recommended in response to the bad air quality and smoke Denver has seen recently. According to Kim Posey of Fox 31, the air quality should improve in the next few days. Read all of Posey's article here.
