The Berlin Little League 10-Year-Old All Stars had a successful start to District play Saturday with a 13–3 win against Southington West in four innings. The 10-Year-Olds were powered by solid hitting throughout the lineup, including two home runs and a triple from Kevin Dunn. Also included in the 14 hits that Berlin pounded out were doubles by Tommy Hyjek, Zach Murray, Alex Halkias, and Daniel Veleas.
Alex Halkias threw 2 1/3 innings of solid pitching to get the win. He was aided by a couple of standout defensive plays including a diving catch in left field by Matt Czerepuszko and a fine throw by Daniel Veleas to Tyler Lappe to cut down a run at home plate.

The 10-Year-Old-Team will be playing a total of five games in the opening round of District pool play. The upcoming games this week (June 25 – July 1) include Tuesday (8 pm), Saturday (1 pm), and Sunday (7 pm).
