Berlin Election 2015 Results -- A Change at Town Hall

The party in power has changed with Tuesday's election.

For the first time in a dozen years, there will be a changing of the leadership at Berlin Town Hall.

Republicans won a 4-3 majority on the town council Tuesday.

Incumbent Republicans Brendan Luddy, David Evans and Charles Paonessa, and newcomer Mark Kaczynski won seats, according to The Courant.

Incumbent Democrat Rachel Rochette, currently the mayor, and Democrats Peter Rosso and former school board member Kristin Campanelli will form the three-member minority on the council. William Rasmussen Jr., now the deputy mayor, did not win a seat.

The non-partisan Board of Education also will transition with the election of new members. Elected were Robin Evans, Julia Motte, Jeffrey Cugno, Kari Sassu, Jaymee Miller and Matthew Tencza, according to The Courant. Cugno, Sassu and Tencza are incumbents. Not winning reelection were members Lyle Menard and Charles Kittleman.
