Berlin Memorial Day Parade To Honor Fallen Heroes
With town offices and schools closed on Monday, May 27, Berlin's annual Memorial Day Parade steps off at 9 a.m.
BERLIN, CT — As is the case every year, the Berlin community is going all out on Memorial Day to remember the lives lost while preserving American freedom.
This year’s Memorial Day Parade— which is Monday, May 27 — will start at 9 a.m. at St. Paul’s Church on Peck Street, Kensington.
It is expected to feature a flyover by the Connecticut Air National Guard during the event.

The parade route will go down Farmington Avenue turning left onto Massirio Drive, passing the Berlin Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10732, then a left onto Veterans Way, and end at the Berlin Veterans Memorial Park.
That is where a Memorial Day Ceremony will take place between 9:45 and 10:05 a.m.

This year’s guest speaker is Anthony Gagliardi, commander of VFW Post 10732.
Anthony Gagliardi is a native of Berlin. He attended Griswold Elementary School and McGee Middle School, before graduating from Berlin High with the class of 2010.
Upon graduation he moved to Lexington, Va., to attend Virginia Military Institute. While there he enlisted in the Virginia National Guard.
Upon graduation in 2014 he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the air defense branch of the U.S. Army.
In the event of rain, the Memorial Day Ceremony will be held at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 10732, 152 Massirio Drive, Berlin at 9 a.m.
Closings
In addition, local officials have announced the Memorial Day holiday impacts on town/school operations.
All town departments will be closed on Monday, May 27, in observance of Memorial Day.
As a result, there will be no trash/recycling that day and trash/recycling will be picked up one day later.
Local schools will also be closed on Monday, May 27, with schools reopening as normal on Tuesday, May 28.
