BHS All-Night Grad Party Goes For A Trip

Seniors will travel off campus and end up at Groton Sub Base.

When the parents of the Berlin High School seniors were planning the annual all-night graduation celebration, they had no idea how much space they would have to work with since the school is under construction.

"We didn't know how much space we would have so we kept the decorations to one area and kept the kids together," said Media Chairman Donna Lisitano. "Right now in the gym we have photo booths and there will be a balloon drop but at 9 p.m. we are going to get them all on busses and we are going 'off site.'"

The secret destination will be the Groton Sub Base.

"They have a recreation department there and they do events like this for high schools all over Connecticut. It is a secured location so we had to go through a lot of hoops to get this done."

Lisitano said that while the graduates are there they will have non-stop activities like paint ball, swimming, games, a carnival and much more. There will also be a buffet available all night.

The students knew they were going somewhere but didn't know where, how far away or what was in store for them.

"We were really surprised when we walked in," said senior graduate Kevin Main. "We knew how much word the parents put into this and we really appreciate how much work they did, it came out great. We have heard that we are going somewhere but we have no idea where we are going. I like the beach and cruise theme, it's pretty cool."

"We couldn't have done this without all the support of the parents, the grandparents, parents of underclassmen, there was so much support," said tri-chair Kate Main. "The community and lots of businesses chipped in to make this is a lot easier."

Kim Nymphos, who was in charge of the decorations praised all those who helped, as well.
