• Berlin Library Hosting A Very Unique Writing Contest (patch.com) — Berlin-Peck Memorial Library is inviting residents to enter its quirky “Last Line Contest,” where participants dream up a powerful final sentence to an imaginary novel. Multiple entries are welcome, everyone gets a custom bookmark featuring their best line, and one winner earns an extra ticket in the All-Year Reading Challenge raffle before the Dec. 31 deadline. 
• Community Foundation of Greater New Britain names new CEO (hartfordbusiness.com) — Berlin residents are served by the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain, which has just promoted longtime staff member Kaylah Milligan to president and CEO starting Jan. 1. She’ll oversee philanthropic and community initiatives benefiting Berlin, New Britain, Plainville, and Southington, guiding how the foundation’s $72.4 million in assets support local nonprofits and projects.
