DUI Checkpoint Tows 10 Cars

Stats show the worth of stopping and detaining cars.

 

A field sobriety checkpoint was set from 6 p.m. until midnight on June 8 on the northbound side of the Berlin Turnpike at Middletown Road.

A total of 914 vehicles were directed through the checkpoint during the detail where vehicles were briefly detained and interviewed by officers. Of the 914 vehicles passing through the checkpoint 14 motorists were flagged by the contact officers for DUI testing or other investigative interviews. The results are as follows.

One (1) motorist was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated

One (1) motorist was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and Evading Responsibility from a crash from which he left the scene on the west side of Town.

Two (2) motorists were arrested for operating with suspended registration and failure to have insurance.

Two (2) motorists were charged with possession of marijuana

Eight (8) motorists were cited for operating unregistered motor vehicles

Ten (10) motor vehicles were towed.
