Robert H. Cooley, 71, of Berlin, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2016 at home surrounded by his family.
Born in New Britain he was the devoted husband of the late Barbara L. Cooley and the son of the late Clifton M. Cooley III and Margaret (Salerni) Cooley of New Britain.

Robert grew up in New Britain and graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School and Central Connecticut State University.
He was employed for over 20 years as Senior Industrial Engineer at Marlin Firearms Company in North Haven. Robert was a Supernumerary Police Officer in Berlin for 22 years and then at New Britain Transportation Company, he was a 3rd and 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Assembly 1508 in Kensington and was a member of Saint Paul Church where he served as an usher for 20 years. Robert was an active member and speaker at Celebrate Recovery in Kensington since 2005.

He is survived by daughters, Joann Cooley of Berlin, Mary and her husband Steven Parker of Oregon; a son Robert C. Cooley of Berlin; two brothers, Clifton and his wife Sharon Cooley of Colchester, William and his wife Mercedes Cooley of North Carolina; a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Thomas Doyle of Block Island, RI; a brother-in-law, Thomas and wife Kathy Walasewicz of Southington; 11 grandchildren, Ethan, Summer, Seth, Joseph, Steven, Elizabeth, Michael, Joshua, Raven, Lyra and Liam and many nieces and nephew. He also leaves his beloved dog Goldie.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 27, at 9 a.m. at the Berlin Funeral Home, 96 Main St., Kensington followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Saint Paul Church, 485 Alling St., Kensington. Entombment at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, New Britain will follow. Friends and family are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday, February 26, from 5 to 7 p.m.
