Nine Berlin Students Awarded Academic Scholarships
The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain awarded 60 scholarships to several area students.

The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain has awarded a total of $145,430 in scholarships to 55 students from Berlin, New Britain, Newington, Plainville, Southington and other towns, helping them to pursue their dreams at higher education institutions in Connecticut and beyond.
Nine students from Berlin were among the recipients.
The students received 60 scholarship awards from 40 of the Foundation’s named scholarship funds and plan to attend Connecticut colleges and universities including the University of Connecticut (UConn), Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) and Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU), as well as out-of-state schools including Arizona State, Maryland, Northeastern, Ohio State and Villanova, among others. Five students received two Foundation scholarships.
Here are the Berlin students who made the cut:

Emily Michaud, Helen T. Bianca Nursing Scholarship (Villanova University)
Stephanie Parillo, Harold M. Sussman Memorial Scholarship (UConn)
Gabrielle St. Jarre (2), William J. Tomasso Scholarship and Dominic DelConte Memorial Scholarship (Northeastern)
Christopher Von Achen, James W. McDermott, Jr., Memorial Scholarship (UMass Amherst).
