Berlin 6, Maloney 1

The team raised its record to 3-12 with a hard-earned victory at Maloney. Dan Rombola did not play and the number one doubles team of Jack Stafstrom (at three singles) and Jaydip Patel (at four singles) not only got a chance to play singles but both won their matches. Peter Hogan played a solid match to win his number one singles match. Sophomores Kris Langevin and Brian Kennure and junior James Wall and sophomore Zach Mayer swepth the doubles matches.
The teams last away match of the season will be against a tough Northwest Catholic team at St. Joseph’s College in West Hartford. The team then returns home to play Windsor on Friday.

Berlin 4, Platt 3
The team earned a hard-fought 4-3 win against Platt on Saturday morning. Sophomore Dan Rombola continued his dominance of the CCC South with a win against a quality veteran player. Sophomores Mike Gurrieri and Matt Trevethan won their singles matches and Karol Zawadski teamed with Jack Stafstrom to clinch the team win by winning the number one doubles.
GIRL'S TENNIS
Berlin 6, Maloney 1
The Berlin Redcoats girls tennis team defeated the Maloney Spartans 6-1 in a CCC South matchup.
The Redcoats cruised to straight set wins in all three doubles matches. Meg Pitkin and Kelly Josephson defeated Courtney Myles and Veronica deRito 6-1, 6-2; Stephanie and Caroline Zembko shutout Carmen Santana and Savannah Mohan 6-0, 6-0; and Emma Johnson and Autumn Edelson triumphed over Onshouda Shaban and Bailey Hettrick 6-3, 6-0.
In singles matches, Berlin's Eva Rybka defeated Alyssa Sweigard 6-0, 6-1; Kelly Byrnes defeated Sage Kilbourn 6-1, 6-0; and Jaclyn Hoffman defeated Noel Rieth 6-3, 6-4. The Spartans Danielle Sweigard won a well-played contest over the Redcoats' Shawna Rosol 7-5/6-3.
With the win, Berlin improves to 8-5 on the season. The Redcoats return to action on Wednesday against Farmington at the Berlin High School courts.
GIRL'S GOLF
Berlin 168, Hall 191
The Berlin Lady Redcoats Golf Team extended its perfect season record to 10 wins against 0 losses Monday with a convincing 168-191 victory over previously unbeaten Hall at Rockledge Golf Course in West Hartford.
Two freshmen, Julia Kemmling and Ashley D'Attilio led the way for Berlin with excellent rounds of 38 and 40 respectfully. Kemmling was the match medalist for the seventh time this season, D'Attilio's 40 was the second lowest score in the match. Rounding out the Berlin scoring, Victoria Fagan carded a well-played 44. Both Emily Stickel and Emily-Anne Deutsch added 46's
"We really needed a good team performance today," said Berlin coach Jim Barnes. "It's our third time this year to shoot in the 160's and it never gets old. With two other tough matches on the road this week against Northwest Catholic on Wednesday and Farmington on Thursday we needed to get back on track. Our previous two outings were not our best but this feels just fine."
SOFTBALL
Platt 2, Berlin 1
Platt pulled off the upset and beat Berlin in Meriden Monday.
Berlin jumped on top right away in the top of the first inning when MacKenzie Freeland’s ripped an RBI triple.
Freshman Kaitlin Guild pitched well for the Redcoats in the loss. Berlin fell to 9-4, 5-4 in the CCC South.
BASEBALL
Berlin 7, Platt 1
MIDDLE SCHOOL BASEBALL
McGee 11, Portland 4
The McGee baseball team continued their fine play by defeating Portland by a score of 11-4.
Jon Beckman and Joe Konowski both pitched well. Matt Morrelli, Vinny Biscoglio, Ryan Cop, and Cote Libby came through with timely hits for the Spartans. Jared Zima, Andrew Charbonneau, Cody Lacasse, and Morelli all played solid defensive games.
