Talented Berlin HS Seniors Honored For Artistic Excellence

The duo was honored last week at the Connecticut Association of Schools Arts Awards banquet in Plantsville.

BERLIN, CT — Two talented Berlin High School students were recently honored for their artistic endeavors.

The Connecticut Association of Schools Arts Awards annually honor two seniors from each member school who excel in the performing or visual arts.

For the Class of 2025, the CAS honored Aurora Logan and Nathan DeJackome from Berlin High School.

While excelling in the performing or visual arts is of primary importance, scholarship and leadership are also supporting criteria.

Students were honored at a banquet at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville on Tuesday, April 1.

Aurora Logan

Logan is a passionate and creative artist, eager to contribute innovative ideas to any team she is part of.

She is the founder of the Comic Book Creators Club, where she helped establish a creative outlet for students interested in comic book art, graphic novels, and creative writing and storytelling.

Logan is also a member of the Student Art League, Redcoat Marching Band, and Theatre Club.

She was recently seen on stage during the high school’s production of The Wizard of Oz, and her comic strips and creative writing pieces are often found in the Redcoat Rambler, Berlin High’s student newspaper.

Logan is also involved in the community, notably as a volunteer singer with Bethany Covenant Church’s youth group.

Her plans after high school include attending CT State Community College before transferring to the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Ga., to study animation and creative writing.

Nathan DeJackome

DeJackome is a standout student musician who consistently strives for excellence.

He has earned positions by audition in the CMEA Northern Regional and ASBDA Honor Bands as
well as Berlin High Music Department Medals.

His passion for performing arts is evidenced by his contributions to the high school’s Redcoat Marching Band, BHS Brass Quintet, and BHS Jazz Band.

DeJackome is also a lighting engineer with the BHS theater stage crew who has been
nominated for a Sondheim Theater Award and won a Halo Theater Award .

His most recent stage crew efforts took place during The Wizard of Oz school musical.

DeJackome is involved in the BHS community outside of the arts as well, spending countless hours as an Upbeat program coordinator.

Outside of Berlin High, DeJackome can be found volunteering as a summer camp counselor with the Joseph and Anthony Manzi Foundation summer music camp each year.

He also serves as recording secretary on the Berlin Youth Services Advisory Board. After graduation
DeJackome plans to major in engineering.
