These Berlin HS Athletes Excel In The Classroom Too
Two members of the Class of 2025 were recently named CAS/CIAC 'Scholar Athletes' for their work in the classroom and on the field.

BERLIN, CT — Two Berlin High School seniors who are about to turn their tassels in a few weeks were recently named statewide scholar athletes.
This year’s award recipients are Nicholas Ebrahimi and Madison Sadowski, both members of the BHS Class of 2025.

Two seniors from each member high school are selected annually to represent their school as the Connecticut Association of Schools/Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference Scholar Athletes
Selection criteria include exemplary academic and athletic careers, personal standards and achievements that are a model to others.

"Both Nicholas and Madison are exemplary students and athletes who maintain a healthy, productive balance between academic and extracurricular activities so that they can put their best efforts into all of their commitments," wrote Berlin Public Schools in an announcement.
The duo was recognized at the annual banquet held at the Aqua Turf in Plantsville on May 4.
Nicholas Ebrahimi
Ebrahimi, recently named the 2025 class valedictorian, is described as "an exceptional student, challenging himself with rigorous courses and pushing the boundaries of his intellectual capabilities."
He has received numerous academic recognitions over his BHS career including the Spanish Educator Nomination Award, AP Biology Award, AP Chemistry Award, AP Scholar Award, the Howard Goding Lions Club Award, and the Rochester Institute of Technology Humanities and Social Science Award.
Ebrahimi has earned high honors status consistently throughout high school and has been elected to the National Honor Society and is vice president of the Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society.
Athletically, he was elected captain of the wrestling team in his junior and senior years and was named to the All CCC Conference.
In addition, he was also elected captain of the track and field team as a junior and senior.
His track and field events include shot put, discus, and hammer.
Ebrahimi has also been a member of the varsity football team for the past four years.
He plans to attend Trinity College in Hartford, where he will be a member of the wrestling team and will major in neuroscience before attending medical school.
Madelyn Sadowski
According to school officials, "Sadowski consistently challenges herself both on the field and in the classroom."
Athletically, she is a member of the varsity women’s soccer team and was elected captain her senior year.
She has been named to the CCC All-Conference, All-State, and CCC All-Academic soccer teams.
In addition, Sadowski is captain of the varsity women’s basketball team, where she has earned the Redcoat Award, Grit Award, and has been named to the All-Herald, CCC All-Conference, and CCC All-Academic basketball teams.
She has the school record for most assists in a season and the all-time assist record.
Academically, Sadowski has earned High Honors consistently throughout high school while
pursuing a rigorous academic schedule.
"Her curiosity and willingness to engage deeply with the material often leads to class discussions and encourage her peers to think critically," wrote the school system in an announcement.
Sadowski has also been involved in the Ryan T. Lee Youth Leadership Conference, Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society, and National Honor Society.
