Branford Honored With 2024 Sustainable CT Climate Leadership Award

Branford, 1 of 9 CT towns awarded, and its Clean Energy Committee have "acted towards climate mitigation since Committee's 2019 creation."

BRANFORD, CT — Branford recently was honored with the Climate Leadership Award at the 2024 Sustainable CT Awards celebration in Old Saybrook.

One of just nine towns in the state to receive the award, in the application, Branford’s Sustainability and Compliance manager Tyler Bowne noted the many actions towards climate mitigation taken by Branford and its Clean Energy Committee since its creation in 2019.

Sustainable CT's mission is to "foster inclusive, resilient, and vibrant Connecticut
municipalities that provide opportunities for all to thrive," the town noted in a news release.

Those include, providing a menu of sustainability actions that build local economies, support equity, and respect the finite capacity of the environment; offering technical assistance to help advance sustainability initiatives; and recognizing and certifying municipalities for their achievements.

Branford is also a bronze member of Sustainable CT. Municipalities choose Sustainable CT
actions, implement them, and earn points toward certification.
