Branford Hires New Top Cop For "Best Police Department In State"
Current police chief Kevin Halloran is retiring in a week to take over as North Branford police chief; there is a new top cop in Branford

BRANFORD, CT - Deputy Police Chief Jonathan R. Mulhern has been unanimously appointed to be the town of Branford's new top cop, taking over next week for Kevin Halloran when Halloran leaves to become the police chief in neighboring North Branford.
The Board of Police Commissioners made Mulhern's appointment at its Monday meeting, where the commission also thanked Halloran for the "tremendous job" he did in his eight years as Branford's police chief.
Halloran is "retiring" from Branford to take advance of a benefits package but he made it clear that he will miss serving what he called "the best department in the state of Connecticut."

Mulhern, who has been deputy police chief in Branford for nine months, joked that he knew where to find Halloran, considering North Branford is only a few miles away, if he is in need of advice.
But both Halloran and the commissioners said the town of Branford would be well served by having Mulhern as its new chief.

Before coming to Branford, Mulhern held the similiar position in North Haven.
Mulhern started his law enforcement career with the North Haven Police Department in 1992.
