Branford Venezuelan Eatery Mosaico Closing After 5 Years On Main St.

But the owners hope to find a larger location in Branford, or very nearby, and they also hope their customers stick with them.

BRANFORD, CT —Mosaico (mosaic) is an apt name for the Venezuelan fusion cucina on Main Street in Branford. Opened five years ago, the restaurant, well-known for its arepas, announced it's closing the doors on Aug. 26. But promised to open in a new location. One that will be announced on social media in the future, it was noted in a Facebook post to its customers.

"To all our customers and friends, we’ll be moving," the post reads. "We’ll be informing you of our new location soon. Thank you for your support in these 5 years! Good things are to come soon. We will keep in touch." In touch via social media accounts including Facebook and Instagram.

The eatery, which has long flown the flag of Venezuela outside its storefront, also has an Amazon store, per the QR code in their post.

In a story in the New Haven Register, the owners, chef Luis Cubillán and wife Jenniffer Mayoral said they're looking for a larger space. The current location has very limited dine-in seating —it's mostly a take-out spot. They said they'd like to stay in Branford, but are open to nearby towns and hope their customers will follow.

They will continue to provide catering during the transition, the Facebook post reads.
