Comey, Lawmakers, Hold Early Childhood Care & Ed Community Discussion
Dems HB 5003 would deliver reliable funding to needy families, attract/retain child educators, create, improve current childcare facilities.
BRANFORD, CT — State Rep. Robin Comey, (D-Branford), and other lawmakers are set to host an Early Childhood Care and Education Community Discussion in Branford Thursday.
Comey, State Rep. Kate Farrar (D–West Hartford/Newington) and State Rep. Mary Welander (D-Derby/Hamden/Orange/Woodbridge) host the community conversation at the Branford Early Learning Center, 16 Birch Road at 6 p.m.
This session, the state legislature is working on strengthening early childhood care and education in Connecticut, Comey said in a news release.

The community conversation will be centered around Democratic House Priority Bill 5003. The bill was referred by the House to Committee on Education on April 1. Its goal is to see the state General Statutes amended to capitalize the Early Childhood Care and Education Fund.

Comey said the discussion is an "opportunity to learn about this key legislation designed to support our children, families, and educators."
"High-quality early childhood care and education is the foundation of a child’s development and a critical investment in our future," Comey said.
