Juvenile Charged With Stealing 2 Cars in Branford, Hits Car: PD

Police charge a teen with stealing two separate cars and also striking another vehicle on Wednesday.

BRANFORD, CT - A juvenile from Waterbury has been charged with stealing two separate cars in Branford, police said. The juvenile also struck a parked car before trying to flee on foot before being taken into custody by Branford police, police said in a news release.

At 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, police said a juvenile from Waterbury parked a stolen vehicle at a gas station on North Main Street and then stole another vehicle from a customer who left their vehicle running while they entered the gas station, police said.

Officers saw the vehicle which engaged them in pursuit. The pursuit was terminated on South Montowese Street near Indian Neck Avenue, police said.

A patrol officer later saw the stolen vehicle traveling onto Milo Drive. As the teen attempted to flee from the area, the juvenile struck a parked (unoccupied) vehicle and ran on foot from the stolen vehicle, police said. The juvenile was later apprehended by police hiding behind a garage on Damascus Road and taken into custody.

The juvenile was charged with first-degree larceny, reckless driving, interfering with an officer, and engaging officers in pursuit.
