Twin Sisters, McDonald's Of Branford Workers, Sang At McD's NYC Event

BRANFORD, CT — Twin sisters Nina and Shelagh Laverty, of New Haven, have been singing together for years, and recently, they performed the National Anthem at the McDonald's All American Games, Sprite® Jam Fest, in Brooklyn, to be televised on ESPN.

The UConn students have been working at the Branford McDonald's for years.

The event featured 3-point contests, dunk competition and a knockout game.

Local Connecticut McDonald's owner operator Sara Amato traveled to New York to surprise Nina and Shelagh, recognizing them as part of the 1 in 8 community and presenting them with exclusive "employees only" swag, including a 1 in 8 jacket. Nina and Shelagh are part of McDonald's "1 in 8," meaning among the one in eight Americans who have worked at McDonald’s.
