Bridgeport Man, 19, Fatally Shot: Reports
BREAKING: It is the city's 20th homicide this year, doubling last year's total.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 19-year-old city man was fatally shot in the stomach late Thursday night, according to multiple media reports. Eric Diaz was found with a gunshot wound to the stomach at the intersection of Beardsley Street and Newfield Avenue.
The Connecticut Post reports Diaz was just three blocks from his last known address. After a decade low of homicides in the city in 2016 with 10, the homicide rate doubled Thursday night, bringing the number of homicides in Bridgeport to 20 this year.

Both the Post and the Daily Voice indicate Diaz was transported to Bridgeport Hospital where he died.
The Connecticut Post reports 13 of those homicides have been cleared through arrests. One was the police-involved shooting of Jayson Negron in May, and another was ruled a suicide.
