Bridgeport Mayor, Zoo Officials to Break Ground on New Kitchen, Commissary for Animals
Beardsley Zoo will have a state-of-the-art food preparation facility for animals in their care to replace decades-old facitily.

From the City of Bridgeport:
BRIDGEPORT, CT - Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim, members of the City Council, and state lawmakers, will join Beardsley Zoo Director Gregg Dancho and other zoo officials to break ground on construction of the new animal commissary. Once completed, the commissary will be central to preparing meals for the animals according to their specialized diets prescribed by the zoo veterinarian. The new state-of-the-art commissary will replace a decades-old facility and feature a large window so visitors can see how the food is prepared. The new facility will also be able to house more zoo volunteers and help launch and animal care educational program.
The ground breaking event will take place Wednesday August 31, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Beardsley Zoo construction site, 1875 Noble Avenue, Bridgeport, CT.
